OVERVIEW

Standard Primary Total Hip and Knee Replacement Procedures is organized by Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and will be held from May 04, 2018 - May 04, 2020. The target audience for this medical event is orthopedic surgeons, residents, fellows, physical therapists and other orthopedic professionals.

Overview:
Hip and knee replacement surgeries are among the most commonly performed operations in the U.S as well as in China. As of 2012, about 50,000 hip and knee arthroplasties were performed annually in China. However, in China, there is no unified national training system and accreditation system for graduate medical education including orthopedic surgeons. Therefore, the surgical training in China is not consistent and standardized. The surgical quality and patient outcome of total hip and knee replacement surgeries vary dramatically from hospital to hospital. To address this, the Chinese Associate of Orthopaedic Surgeons (CAOS) invited HSS to conduct the cadaveric arthroplasty course focusing on primary total hip and knee replacement surgical procedures during the 10th Congress of CAOS to improve professional competence and advance surgical skills of Chinese Orthopaedic surgeons.

Learning Objectives:
Hospital for Special Surgery professional education activities are intended to improve the quality of patient care and safety. At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to:
• Understand the standard surgical procedures for primary total hip and total knee replacement surgeries
• Understand new approach and state of art surgical techniques for hip and knee procedures

Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
