Description:
The SouthWest Affiliate’s Quality & Systems Improvement Department is excited to launch an online based Stroke Coordinators Boot Camp.
This program educates Stroke Coordinators in key components of their role, providing tools and resources that they need to build and maintain successful programs.
Objectives:
At the completion of this online course, the learner will be able to:
• Define the key responsibilities of a stroke coordinator related to interaction with physicians; hospital clinicians; administrators and external partners including EMS.
• Discuss strategies the stroke coordinator can utilize to help navigate the waters of stroke program development.
• Identify the important first steps to get a stroke team member focused on performance improvement, peer review and multi-disciplinary planning.
• Describe strategies to use data to obtain buy-in and commitment from staff, physicians and administration.
• List several practical options for organizing the daily, weekly and monthly priorities of a stroke coordinator.
• Discuss options for starting and sustaining a successful stroke support group.
• Discuss institutional preparation for certification survey visits.
• Discuss processes and procedures that can be used by PSC when transferring to CSC.
• Articulate the reason evidence based practice guidelines are important to the Stroke patient.
• Identify ways that GWTG Stroke can help with data capture and reporting.
