There is a hidden health crisis that has emerged in America related to deaths associated with adverse drug events, beyond opioid use. Learn what the drivers are behind this epidemic and how we can leverage new technologies and models to address the issue. You will learn that there is a significant opportunity for pharmacists to leverage their expertise in mitigating risks associated with medication use, impact total cost of care, and champion resolution of this crisis.

Learning Objectives for Pharmacists:
At the completion of this activity, pharmacists and technicians will be able to:
• Understand the growing issue of and drivers behind polypharmacy.
• Examine the impact of the cost associated with adverse drug events.
• Explore reasons why pharmacists are not able to prevent adverse drug events from occurring.
• Showcase evidence that demonstrates the value of a pharmacist's expertise and the impact on total cost of care when leveraged appropriately.
• Illustrate new legislative initiatives that can further expand pharmacy practice in the near future.
