Accreditation:
Physicians/Physician Assistants:
The University of Nebraska Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses/Nurse Practitioners:
The University of Nebraska Medical Center designates this activity for 1.0 ANCC contact hour. Nurses should only claim credit for the actual time spent participating in the activity. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 13699 for 1.2 contact hours.

Pharmacists (PharmDs/RPhs):
This knowledge-based activity is accredited for 1 hour of continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credit. Duquesne University School of Pharmacy will report all credit to CPE Monitor within 60 working days after receiving evidence of successful completion of the course. Successful completion means that you must attend the entire program and complete an evaluation form.

Topics:
Clinical Impact of Aging and Comorbidities on HIV Management:
The number of older people with HIV is increasing, and those aging with HIV are experiencing an increasing burden of age-associated comorbidities. Although early initiation of ART is the cornerstone of therapy, greater attention is needed on preventative approaches to mitigate cardiovascular disease, renal insufficiency, bone disease/frailty, and cognitive decline. This activity will use a case-based approach to discuss age-related comorbidities in persons with HIV and prevention/management approaches for HIV and common comorbidities.

Evolving HIV Strategies for Today’s Management Challenges:
Patients living with HIV face multiple challenges. Listening and learning about concerns/barriers that patients with HIV face can improve individualized outcomes and expectations. This program will incorporate the patient voice to discuss, in a case-based format, the common healthcare and treatment needs of patients with HIV, translatability of recent study results to clinical practice, and strategies to improve patient outcomes.

HIV Management Considerations for Diverse and Challenging Populations:
Many factors may prevent marginalized persons from being tested for HIV, initiate/adhere to ART, and may increase the frequency of behaviors that put a person at risk for HIV transmission. To this end it is important for HIV care providers to be knowledgeable about specific HIV care needs of these individuals. This activity will use a case-based approach to discuss contemporary HIV management considerations in a number of scenarios, including pregnancy, HCV coinfection, incarceration, substance use disorders, transgender, and mental health concerns.

Post Conference Update: 11th IAS Conference on HIV Science:
Strategies for effective treatment of HIV disease continue to evolve rapidly. Recognizing and discussing the benefits and risks of new management approaches places healthcare professionals at the forefront of HIV care. This activity will explain how recent study results in ART apply to clinical practice and discuss significant developments and strategies in the management of persons with HIV.

Post Conference Update: 28th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections:
Strategies for effective treatment of HIV disease continue to evolve rapidly. Recognizing and discussing the benefits and risks of new management approaches places healthcare professionals at the forefront of HIV care. This activity will explain how recent study results in ART apply to clinical practice and discuss significant developments and strategies in the management of persons with HIV.
