Course Description:
Sepsis is a medical emergency that may include long-term health and social consequences for the affected individuals and their families. In recent years, health care professionals have made great strides in understanding the pathophysiology of sepsis which have led to earlier diagnosis and improved patient outcomes.

• Define sepsis and septic shock
• Recognize the importance of early identification of patients with sepsis
• Discuss best practices for treating sepsis
