Overview:
Decision making related to the care of patients with an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is complex. Aneurysms present with varying risks of rupture, and patient-specific factors influence anticipated life expectancy, operative risk and need to intervene. Join us to hear Dr. Brian Schiro discuss the latest research on the pathogenesis and epidemiology of AAA, and provide evidence-based guidelines for determining optimal treatment options for patients with ruptured AAA to minimize subsequent aneurysm-related death or morbidity.

Learning Objectives:
• Summarize the latest research findings and current theories on the pathogenesis and epidemiology of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) with and without rupture.
• Assess patient history to determine the best screening tools for AAA.
• Utilize evidence-based guidelines to determine the best treatment strategy for patients with ruptured AAA to minimize subsequent aneurysm-related death or morbidity.

American Board of Internal Medicine Maintenance of Certification:
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.25 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Your participation information will be shared with specialty boards through the ACCME's PARS reporting system. Successful completion of a course examination is required. Submissions are recorded in approximately 48 hours. You will receive an email when your credits have been processed.
