Goal:
To educate pharmacists about safe and responsible disposal of medication, the laws regarding medication disposal and how they can assist patients in the pharmacy setting.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
• Discuss the environmental impact of improper medication disposal;
• Examine efforts to reduce the accumulation of medication in homes focusing on opioids and other drugs of abuse;
• Identify current legal considerations regarding medication disposal; and
• Review the role of pharmacists in assisting patients with drug disposal
