Risk Mitigation, Identification, and OUD Treatment: Approaches to Conquering the Opioid Epidemic is organized by Med-IQ and will be held from Apr 30, 2018 - Apr 29, 2019.

The target audience for this medical event is primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, emergency department clinicians, and addiction specialists. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 0.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Course Description:
This patient-centric simulation explores strategies for identifying patients who suffer from opioid use disorder (OUD) and the expanding evidence base for available OUD treatments, with an emphasis on medication-assisted treatment and behavioral therapies. The first patient simulation focuses on diagnosing OUD in a patient with chronic back pain and using motivational interviewing to promote behavior change. The second patient simulation describes a patient seeking treatment for severe OUD and will address the application of recent clinical data to the treatment-planning process.

Course Objectives:
• Evaluate strategies to identify and counsel patients with OUD
• Individualize the treatment of patients with OUD by considering the latest clinical evidence as well as treatment- and patient-related factors
