Conference Description:
In this 30-minute webcast, expert faculty highlight recent clinical evidence on the care of patients with thoracic malignancies. The role of surgery and radiotherapy in treating patients with small cell and non–small cell lung cancer in the era of immunotherapy is discussed, as well as the current standard of care for patients with metastatic non–small cell lung cancer.

Statement of Need:
Lung cancer is the second most frequently diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in the United States. More than three-quarters of patients with lung cancer have non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Despite the availability of new therapies, including angiogenesis inhibitors, progress in outcomes has been modest for many years. However, the success of immunotherapy in treating NSCLC has initiated a change in the therapeutic approach to managing this disease. Numerous randomized clinical trials assessing the effect of adding immunotherapy to standard care for patients with early and advanced disease have reported their findings within the past 12 months. Expert insight can help oncologists better understand the implications of recent clinical evidence on the standard of care, including single and multimodal approaches to treating lung cancer.
