Program Overview:
This presentation was originally given on December 5, 2018, at the Hot Topics in Neonatology conference in Washington, DC. This annual conference is sponsored by Nemours and seeks to involve clinicians from around the globe in the debate around both existing and emerging therapies and neonatal science, with the goal of providing clinicians with implementable practice change.

Learning Objectives:
By participating in this unit, participants should be able to:
• Describe the evidence base for the major preterm birth prevention strategies including routine cervix length measurement in mid-pregnancy, prescription of vaginal progesterone, and avoidance of non-medically indicated late preterm and early term birth
• Discuss the structure of the newly formed Australian Preterm Birth Prevention Alliance and its opportunities and challenges
• Evaluate the relative risks and consequences of early birth whenever considering elective delivery before 39 weeks' gestation
