Description:
Online Prescribing Controlled Substances course for Podiatric Physicians licensed in the state of Florida. The Florida Podiatric Medical Association is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education as a provider of continuing education in podiatric medicine. The Florida Podiatric Medical Association has approved this activity for a maximum of two (2.0) continuing education contact hours (CECH) for Podiatric Physicians licensed, or seeking licensure, in the State of Florida. This course consists of two videos and a post-test. The learner must earn a passing score of at least 70% on the post-test in order to receive 2.0 CECH for this course.

What you'll learn
At the end of the course instruction, you will be able to:

1. Recognize the relevant important Controlled Substance “Opioid” prescribing laws and rules that govern prescribers of controlled substances in the United States and the State of Florida.
2. Describe the nature of pain and options for its treatment.
3. Review Opioid Pharmacodynamics, Pharmacogenomics, and Pharmacokinetics Review risk factors for potential misuse, abuse, and diversion of prescribed opioid medications.
4. Review screening tools such as ORT®, SOAPP-R®, COMM™, UDS, E-FORCSE® and Opioid Use agreements and other tools to mitigate opioid harm and opioid diversion. Integrate the clinical examples with clinical best practices of opioid prescribing, monitoring, and record keeping for patients’ disease states, pathology, illness, sex, gender, identity, and race while balancing and mitigating opioid adverse effects by identifying at-risk population for opioid use disorders.

Course Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
