Refresher Courses are sessions captured at past RSNA Annual Meetings focusing on themes of health care reform, payment models, research and innovation, patient-centered radiology, and advances in the different imaging modalities. Refresher Courses are targeted at diagnostic, interventional, and oncologic radiologists and are designed to improve knowledge and competence in responding to the challenges and advancements in the field of radiology. Most courses include an audio-visual presentation, as well as a corresponding transcript.

• Describe recent federal legislation seeking to implement healthcare payment reform by linking physician payment to the quality and value of care.
• Recognize the specific impact of such legislation on radiologists and how radiologists can best prepare for the legislation's implementation.
• Discover examples of how a such federal policy may be applied in breast imaging, interventional radiology, and quality and safety in radiology.
• Distinguish the issue of price transparency and why it is a problem for radiologists, especially those working in hospitals.
• Recognize the misleading information that patients are receiving from commercial websites and various state all-payer claims databases.
• Identify steps radiologists can take to assure that their patients receive accurate information about what the actual costs of their imaging exams will be.
• Identify the radiology quality and safety metrics on the cms.gov compare site.
• Explain some of the organizational resources available to the radiologist to measure and report quality and process improvement.
• Discover how quality in radiology will be measured under emerging physician performance evaluation models.
• Describe how bundled payments are created and how they are believed to impact health outcomes.
• Describe how bundled payments have impacted imaging reimbursement.
• Describe a potential model for a bundled payment for breast screening.
• Summarize major provisions in MACRA concentrating on those that impact radiologists.
• Review final regulatory updates regarding MIPS for the 2020 performance year.
• Explore strategies to maximize performance in MIPS.
