Activity Overview:
Homeopathic remedies have been available for over 200 years and utilized to manage symptoms of common ailments such as cough and cold. Despite the longstanding practice of homeopathy, there exists considerable misunderstanding and uncertainty amongst healthcare providers. In recent years there has been an increased public interest in complementary and integrative medicine and pharmacists are likely to encounter patients seeking counseling regarding homeopathic products found in pharmacies. In this discussion, we address the misconceptions and present the available facts regarding homeopathic products, with a focus on cough and cold, so pharmacists can make educated and informed decisions in their practice.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:
• Review the practice of homeopathy as a system of medicine and its role in the management of cough and cold symptoms
• Discuss the beliefs and perceptions among healthcare professionals related to the use of homeopathy
• Recognize pharmacist interventions to screen and select cough and cold homeopathic products for appropriate patients seeking self-care
