Pediatric Mental Health In Primary Care 2018 Conference is organized by Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and will be held from Mar 06, 2018 - Dec 31, 2018.

MOC Statement:
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the activity, with individual assessments of the participant and feedback to the participant, enables the participant to earn 5 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.
Course Description:
The purpose of this conference is to provide education and support to primary care providers in addressing the mental health care needs of children and adolescents.
Throughout the country, there is a shortage of mental health providers, especially child and adolescent psychiatrists. The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine in partnership with Children's Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW) initiated a child psychiatry access pilot project called, Charles E. Kubly Child Psychiatry Access Project in 2013. The objective for the project was to improve mental health care for children. The goal was to implement a linkage intervention for pediatricians to access a child psychiatrist for case consultations to help them better manage mild-to-moderate psychiatric issues of their patients.
Course Objectives:
The CE learning objective is to increase clinicians’ capacity to recognize and treat mental and behavioral health needs of children and adolescents in their care. The medical home is a setting with which families are familiar and comfortable, and they trust their primary care providers. Therefore, pediatric mental health education for primary care is critical in allowing patients and families to get the mental health care they need. The specific goal is to educate primary care providers in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of children and adolescents with mild-to-moderate mental and behavioral health problems.
