Course Description: 
This presentation will discuss recent advances in the research and practice of pediatric cultural neuropsychological assessment. Special focus will be on bilingual individuals, dual language programs and autism. Within the area of autism, participants will learn cultural differences that obscure and/or mimic symptoms of autism in order to improve diagnostic accuracy. Cutting-edge approaches in the assessment process including the use of the ECLECTIC framework will be shared in order to guide all aspects of the evaluation, including diagnostic interview and ways to incorporate these components into feedback. The audience will gain greater understanding not only of the history of dual language programs in the United States but will also be able to apply knowledge of how children are learning to best practices for neuropsychological evaluation. Finally, recommendations for clinical practice in the application of a structured ECLECTIC model for consideration in evaluations will be made.

After attending this Online Course, attendees will be able to:
• List at least two ways to address bilingual language concerns as part of the pediatric assessment process.
• Apply the different ECLECTIC framework components when conducting culturally informed pediatric evaluations.
• Discuss best practice recommendations for providing culturally informed ASD evaluations.
• Explain at least two differences in bilingual education programs and identify ways to properly assess bilingual children in the United States.
