This lecture will discuss the current literature that allows appropriate patient selection, particularly in high-risk patients with patients with difficult airways, morbid obesity, obstructive sleep apnea, cardiac comorbidities including patients with pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators.

Conference Objectives are:
• Review the current science regarding patient selection for ambulatory surgery.
• Identify the approach to determining patient selection for ambulatory surgery.
• Justify appropriate selection of adult patients with obesity, sleep apnea, cardiac implantable electronic devices, coronary stents scheduled for ambulatory surgery.
