Description:
This course is part of the Ortho Core Curriculum for rehabilitation professionals. The focus of this module is the shoulder. You will learn: critical thinking during subjective examination of the patient; planning an effective objective examination; identification, assessment and risk factors for various body regions; red flags and when medical referral to a physician is needed; differential diagnosis creation; development of a plan of care using a case-based approach; creation of collaborative goals that are achievable and meaningful to the patient.

Learning Objectives:
HSS Continuing Education activities are intended to improve the quality of patient care and safety. At the conclusion of this course the participant will be able to:

Identify relevant shoulder anatomy, musculature, and biomechanics
Conduct an efficient and appropriate physical examination of the shoulder based on a thorough subjective history with an emphasis on pattern recognition and red flag screening
Generate an appropriate differential diagnosis as it relates to the examination of the shoulder using a case-based approach
Implement effective, evidence-based treatment strategies that are specific to the patient and pathology
