Opioid Use Disorder for Hospitalists in the Fentanyl Era is organized by Penn Medicine - Continuing Medical and Interprofessional Education and will be held from Aug 16, 2022 - Aug 16, 2025.

Description:
The re-emergence of fentanyl has created a heightened need for clinicians to employ medications designed to treat opioid use disorder (MOUD) and implement harm reduction strategies.

Objectives:
After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Review epidemiology of opioid use disorder including the re-emergence of fentanyl
  • Practice evidence-based medicine for patients with OUD by using medications for opioid use (MOUD) disorder and harm reduction strategies
  • Analyze the benefits of short-acting opioids as a tool for withdrawal and pain in patients with active OUD
