Description:
This enlightening course describes how opioids work, how they lose their effect and cause hyperalgesia. Furthermore, studies demonstrating their extremely high toxicity levels and weak evidence of benefit will be reviewed.

Learning Objectives:
After participating in this seminar, participants will be able to:
• Explain the process by which opioids lose their potency over time
• Describe studies that show opioids have no discernible benefit when taken for more than two months
• Describe the exceedingly high toxicity of persistent and/or high-dose usage.
