Overview:
This course for the interdisciplinary health care team (RN, EMS) provides a review of the epidemiology of illicit and recreational drug use in the United States including trends in pediatric overdose deaths from opioids. Participants will learn about opioid toxidrome, testing, treatment and risk mitigation strategies.
Learner Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, learners will be able to report new knowledge related to the opioid epidemic and risk mitigation strategies.
Learning Objectives:
• Discuss epidemiology of illicit and recreational drug use including fentanyl
• Identify other novel psychoactive substance opioids
• Describe naloxone risk mitigation strategies
