Course Details:
One World, One Challenge: Equipping Doctors to Tackle Obstructive Sleep Apnea is a CME activity developed to support primary care providers (PCPs) worldwide in the identification and management of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). With over 425 million adults affected globally—and up to 80% undiagnosed—OSA remains a major public health concern. This activity acknowledges regional variations in provider roles and offers inclusive, practical education relevant across healthcare systems.

Learners will gain tools to apply evidence-based guidelines for screening and diagnosis, understand the impact of untreated OSA and its related comorbidities, and develop effective treatment plans that include obesity management. The activity also emphasizes ongoing evaluation and adjustment of therapy to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients living with OSA.

Learning Objectives:
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Apply evidence-based guidelines to screen for and diagnose obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in clinical practice
  • Explain the significance of diagnosing OSA, including its association with related health complications
  • Design evidence-based treatment plans for people with OSA that incorporate guideline-recommended therapies
  • Evaluate OSA treatment over time to ensure optimal patient outcomes by modifying therapy when needed

Agenda:

  • Module 1 will lay the foundational understanding of current global guidance for OSA screening
  • Module 2 will explore approaches to OSA diagnosis, including tools adaptable to resource-limited settings
  • Module 3 will cover advanced topics related to obesity management as a key aspect of OSA care
  • Module 4 will address additional approaches to evidence-based OSA treatment strategies
  • Module 5 will explore methods to facilitate treatment adherence via optimized patient follow-up and education
  • Module 6 will unpack communication strategies to support long-term adherence to OSA therapy
