Description:
This course delves into the intricate realm of auto-immune diseases, exploring their incidence, diverse types, and the role of infective agents in their development. Participants will gain comprehensive insights into pharmacologic and naturopathic treatment options for managing infections that contribute to auto-immune conditions. Additionally, the course covers the standard pharmacologic treatments for various auto-immune diseases and introduces de-prescribing protocols tailored for adjunctive support in Ontario and primary care in BC. Through this course, participants will develop a nuanced understanding of diagnosing, treating, and managing auto-immune diseases, empowering them with knowledge to deliver effective care and support to patients.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will learn about the incidence and types of auto-immune diseases.
  2. Participants will learn about various infective agents which can lead to auto-immune disease.
  3. Participants will learn about pharmacologic and naturopathic options for treating these infections
  4. Participants will learn about standard pharmacologic treatment for a number of auto-immune diseases.
  5. Participants will learn about de-prescribing protocols for some pharmacologic agents, either as adjunctive support (Ontario) and/or primary care (BC).
