AAFP:
This Enduring Material activity, Navigating Electronic Media in a Healthcare Setting, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 2.00 Prescribed credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP certification begins 01/01/2019. Term of approval is for one year from this date. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to provide guidance with regard to the risks associated with the most common forms of electronic communication in use by practitioners today. This course will educate the reader about the need to develop electronic communication protocols to comply with federal regulations, including HIPAA. At the end of the course, the reader should be able to recognize common risks and pitfalls associated with electronic communications including electronic health records, and develop protocols for effective and secure electronic communications.
