Description:
Treatment of psychiatric disorders is a complex and rapidly-evolving topic in medicine. Mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and other common psychiatric conditions routinely present in primary care settings. This session will review the latest updates in psychopharmacology with which all primary care clinicians should be familiar.

Learning Objectives

  • Define principles of treatment-to-target management and how to use them in an outpatient setting 
  • Discuss second-line strategies for major depression, including switching, combining and augmentation, & neuromodulation
  • Incorporate best practices for the use of benzodiazepines
  • Review emerging psychopharmacologic approaches to psychiatric care
