This educational experience is designed to provide the practicing chiropractic physician with an understanding of the documentation requirements set for in the Medicare Benefit Policy Guidelines and the importance the content within the OIG’s Work Plan. A review of the guidelines is provided and key elements discussed regarding compliance to these guidelines for an initial and subsequent visit. The OIG is the watchdog for the Medicare Trust Fund and every six months the agency develops a work plan to protect this fund from fraud, waste and abuse. Learn about the OIG’s concern regarding chiropractic services provided to Medicare beneficiaries and what the appropriate actions that are necessary to comply with OIG and Medicare requirements.
