Description:
This self-paced course is designed to give the participant a better understanding of the causes and contributing factors of medical emergencies, while recognizing the signs and symptoms of possible emergencies that may occur in the dental office. The participant will be able to describe initial treatment indicated, incorporate the knowledge of prevention techniques, and state stress reduction protocols.

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the importance of current and accurate medical history for patients
  • Recognize the causes and contributing factors of dental medical emergencies
  • Identify the basics of airway management
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of medical emergencies
  • Describe the initial treatment indicated
  • Discuss prevention techniques
  • Describe emergency and stress reduction protocols
