Management of Gestational Diabetes is organized by Baptist Health South Florida and would be held during Apr 01, 2016 - Apr 01, 2018.

Hospitalists, Internists, Family Practitioners, Emergency Medicine Physicians, Surgeons, Cardiologists, Endocrinologists, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Dietitians and other interested healthcare practitioners.This CME Conference has been approved with a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.
Gestational diabetes carries an increased risk of macrosomia and birth complications, without a risk threshold. Treatment starts with nutrition therapy, exercise and glucose monitoring. Insulin is preferred agent for management of diabetes in pregnancy because of the lack of long-term safety data for noninsulin agents. Due to complexity of insulin management in pregnancy, referral to specialized center is recommended if this resource is available.
Learning Objectives:
• Implement an evidence-based approach to selecting insulin in pregnancy complicated by gestational diabetes.
• Select appropriate post-partum diabetes testing for women with previous gestational diabetes.
