Lipid Management: Current Perspectives and Emerging Approaches is organized by North American Center for Continuing Medical Education (NACCME) and would be held during Dec 31, 8, 2014 - Jan 4, 2017.
The target audience for this medical event are primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, registered dietitians, certified diabetes educators, pharmacists and other related healthcare professionals involved in lipid management of patients. This CME conference has been approved with a maximum of 1.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:
• Evaluate primary and secondary prevention evidence with statins, and explain the importance of lowering LDL-C with statin therapy for reducing cardiovascular risk.
• Describe strategies for managing statin intolerance, interpret statin safety data, and assess benefit/risk with statins.
• Summarize and explain the 2013 ACC/AHA Cholesterol Guidelines.
• Recognize the association of hypertriglyceridemia with increased risks and define currently available therapies for reducing elevated triglycerides.
• Evaluate similarities and differences between fish oil supplements and prescription omega-3 treatment options, and between currently available and emerging omega-3 fatty acid agents.
