Description:
Learn about the unique health needs of the LGBTQ community, as well as food and nutrition practices that can improve health outcomes.
The Learning Process:
Participants are expected to watch the video, reflect on its content, and complete the CME self-assessment and CME evaluation. Only upon completing this process will a participant's continuing education certificate be generated. The estimated time a learner will need to complete this self-study activity is 1 hour.
Objectives:
• Define the differences between gender identity and biological gender.
• Understand the health care disparities that are unique to the LGBTQIA population.
• Identify unique health care needs of the LGBTQIA population, especially in regards to gender identity transition.
• List ways in which food and nutrition can assist in maintaining and advancing the health of LGBTQIA individuals.
