This Enduring Material activity, Navigating Electronic Media in a Healthcare Setting, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 2.00 Prescribed credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP certification begins 01/01/2019. Term of approval is for one year from this date. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AOA:
This program is eligible for two (2) credit hours in Category 2-B of the Continuing Medical Education Program of the American Osteopathic Association. Physicians will need to submit a letter of completion from the University of Tennessee directly to the AOA to receive CME credits.

Course Description:
Advances in technology, increasing numbers of advanced practice providers and evolving reimbursement models continue to change healthcare delivery and consequently, risks. This program examines actual cases and focuses on top risks from the perspective of a medical malpractice trial lawyer including patient interaction, informed consent, vicarious liability and supervision. Solutions to successfully manage them in today’s environment are discussed.

• Describe strategies to increase defensibility in the event of a claim.
• Develop best practices to avoid scope of practice and vicarious liability claims.
