Description:
The 2017 Lead and Device Management Summit program has been further developed, not only to include the newest topics in the field, presented by the most knowledgeable experts, but will also be interactive. This year, the Lead & Device Management Summit will focus on present and future treatments of issues as well as the pros and cons of new treatment modalities.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:
• Discuss diagnosis and spectrum of lead failures
• Analyze different techniques for lead extraction
• Explain the present statue of research in leadless defibrillators and evidence for leadless pacing
• Describe the epidemiology of device infections
• Recognize mechanisms of ICD lead failure
• Understand the anatomy of the heart relevant to lead extractions, with emphasis on areas of complications
• Apply evidence for pre-op antibiotics and data on how to lower risk of infection
• Diagnosis and manage patients with ICD lead recalls, including when to replace and when to extract
• Apply evolving guidelines and new indications for device implantation
