Introduction to Primary Care Ultrasound

This course was created to provide a foundation of ultrasound in the primary care and emergency setting. It will begin with basic physics to provide the bedrock for your future scanning endeavors in ultrasound. You will understand how the machine works and what you will need to manipulate to enhance your images. You will gain a clear understanding of artifacts, probe selection, and limitations of ultrasound. Next, you will see the review of abdominal anatomy and scanning technique for the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, ducts, urinary system and spleen. Imaging protocol and pathology are included. Finally, review the Rapid Ultrasound in Shock, or RUSH protocol. This is an excellent lecture for evaluating fluid, the heart, and vascular system including the aorta and lower extremities for DVT.

The presentational method for this activity will be Video Recorded Lecture. This activity is geared to meet the educational requirements of Emergency Room Physicians, Family Practitioners, Internal Medicine Physicians, and Hospitalists.
