Program Overview:

A two-day course on how to integrate genetics into medical practice.

Learning Objectives:
Day 1
Participants will be able to:
• Acknowledge the major signs of a genetic disease and determine when a patient would benefit from genetic testing
• Explain the clinical utility of different genetic testing methodologies.
• Discover how to drive genetic test reports
• Staying aware of resources available to health care providers interested in referring patients to genetic testing and genetic counseling

Day 2
Participants will be able to:
• Explain how genetic testing is utilized in various areas of internal medicine and apply it to their own practice
• Describe the clinical implication of different types of genetic results, including diagnostic findings, secondary findings, and incidental findings on carrier screening
• Employ pharmacogenetic testing
• Acknowledge the future clinical applications of polygenic risk scores
• Assess different genetic testing options
