Influenza places a substantial burden on the health of individuals in the United States each year. While the number of influenza cases has markedly declined in recent years due to COVID-19–related precautions, optimal influenza antiviral treatment remains necessary to reduce the need for and length of hospitalization as well as influenza-related mortality. In this CME/CE activity, expert faculty will discuss the recognition and diagnosis of influenza in children, and appropriate use of antiviral therapy in children and adults who are at risk for influenza-related complications. Multidisciplinary strategies for improving prevention and control in rural and underserved communities will also be reviewed.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
• Identify candidates eligible for antiviral therapy based on their risk for influenza-related complications, in accordance with current guideline recommendations
• Develop individualized antiviral treatment plans for patients with, or at risk for, influenza based on the latest clinical evidence
• Employ multidisciplinary strategies to overcome challenges to treatment and prevention of influenza in rural and underserved communities.
