Immersive Cytopathology Experience (ICE): ICE in Iceland is organized by United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP).
Original release date: October 18, 2019
Access to this course expires on: April 7, 2022
Target Audience:
Practicing academic and community pathologists, and pathologists-in-training
Course Description:
Immersive Cytopathology Experience (ICE) has been developed to incorporate diagnostic cytopathology and conventional ICE (a hands-on learning experience at the USCAP Interactive Learning Center) ideas. This case-based learning programme resembles hospital-based tumour boards' interdisciplinary collaborative engagement. The interaction of interventional cytopathologists with a surgeon, patient, and hard cases from academic institutions, focused on head and neck clinical lesions, is a feature of this curriculum.
This enlightening program includes a textured learning experience involving classification schemes, a molecular and genetic understanding of head and neck diseases, procedural approaches to specimen acquisition and processing, empathetic communication, safety and quality measures, and evaluating the academic pathologist's non-clinical performance.
Learning Objectives:
In order to complete this illuminative activity, participants should be better able to:
• Understand relevant clinicopathologic diagnostic and therapeutic features of head and neck diseases using an exemplary index case and many explanatory instances from academic centres
• Learn more about the morphologic, molecular, genetic, and cytologic characteristics of various head and neck tumours, as well as how they're classified
• Improve patient and clinician interaction abilities, such as sympathetic communication and how the ideal interactive health care team works
• Look at ways to improve patient safety and quality using root cause analysis, system enhancements, error reporting, disclosure and apology, as well as scenario role play
• Prepare and triage specimens optimally through ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration biopsy, rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) and rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE).
