Identifying and Preventing Interpersonal Violence is organized by Pri-Med.

Description:
This presentation will review the demographics of domestic violence (women, men, children, LGBTQIA+), including the impact on the health of victims. The screening and diagnostic strategies will also be reviewed. Optimal management by primary care providers will include emphasis on a patient centered approach, community resources and legal responses.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss demographics of adult interpersonal violence
  • Examine the impact of domestic violence on health
  • Review screening and diagnosis strategies for IPV
  • Describe optimal management of suspected IPV
  • Emphasize a patient-centered approach to survivors of IPV and learn referral sources for victims of intimate partner violence
