Ophthalmology Faculty Development Webcast Series

Goal: Social media are interactive technologies that allow users to facilitate conversations, share information, and create web content. A research study published by the University of Maine indicates that nearly 40 percent of internet users worldwide utilize social media for work purposes. In this module learn how to use these interactive technologies within your classroom to engage students and discover methods for providing educational material in a format adapted to their learning styles.

Objectives:
As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to:
• Enumerate various technology platforms and software used during webinars;
• Summarize ways of conducting a successful webinar;
• Explain pre and post-webinar activities or preparations.
• Describe at least two examples supporting the effectiveness of using social networks in medical education.
