Course Description:
Learn how to help patients move from problem awareness to treatment acceptance with a basic understanding of how people process information and make decisions. In this team meeting, Dr. Dichter explains the Elaboration Likelihood Model and all the factors that contribute to effective persuasive communication. Teams gain insight into how to present treatment to patients and how to respond to favorable, neutral or unfavorable decisions.

Learning Objectives:
• Understand the role of communication in a patient’s decision-making process.
• Learn how to use the Elaboration Likelihood Model in identifying what route a dental patient is using to make decisions.
• Determine how to best focus efforts to aid the patient in their decision-making process.
