TOPIC 1: Acute Aortic Syndromes.
Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: COMP
• Identify key symptoms and signs.
• Recognize aortic imaging strengths and weaknesses.
• Determine interval screening/ timing for medical and/or surgical treatment.
• Assess complications of treatment.
TOPIC 2: Antiplatelets, Anticoagulants and Stenting in Acute Coronary Syndrome.
Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: COMP, GL, EBM
• Recognize indications for antiplatelets.
• Relate differences between bare metal, drug-eluting stents.
• Relate differences between restenosis and stent thrombosis.
• Understand strengths and weaknesses of different antiplatelet and anticoagulation strategies in AF and stents.
TOPIC 3: Distinguishing, Diagnosing and Treating Carditis: Pericarditis, Myocarditis and Endocarditis.
Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: COMP
• Relate treatment differences between acute and recurrent pericarditis.
• Distinguish acute pericarditis, myopericarditis and myocarditis.
• Identify acute myocarditis patients requiring endomyocardial biopsy.
• Describe differential diag of valvular masses.
• Integrate surgical indications in endocarditis.
