Course Description:
This webinar is designed for all dental assistants to familiarize them with basic knowledge regarding the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) infection control guidelines regarding standard precautions and infection prevention. Highlighted will be the role of the dental assistant as a team member in helping ensure that proper infection control practice is followed in the office.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the dental professional should be able to:

• Outline basic infection prevention expectations for safe care in dental settings as recommended in the Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Health-Care Settings-2003;
• Describe basic infection prevention principles and recommendations for dental health care settings;
• Discuss Standard Precautions and how to implement them to prevent transmission of infectious agents during patient care in all dental health care settings; and
• Discuss the fundamental elements needed to prevent transmission of infectious agents in dental settings.
