Psychological trauma knows no boundaries: it affects people of every background, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, age, and gender. The impact on people around the globe is significant. According to a 2016 study, over 70% of those surveyed across six continents have experienced a traumatic event.

McLean Hospital is pleased to offer this on-demand course aimed at dispelling long held misconceptions about assessing and treating emotional trauma. Experts from around the world will share the latest updates in the field, including delivering care in low-resource settings and exploring special populations such as the unique experiences of refugees and displaced persons.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
• Identify signs and symptoms of trauma and related disorders in adults, young adults, and children
• Explain how trauma disorders are currently affecting displaced persons or refugees from low- and middle-income countries
• Describe evidence-based interventions that are available to help people struggling with trauma disorders in low resource settings

Physicians
McLean Hospital is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. McLean Hospital designates this educational activity for a maximum of 3.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Psychologists
McLean Hospital is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. McLean Hospital maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Participants meeting requirements will receive 3.25 CE credits. To receive credit, the APA requires that psychologists complete the full course (all modules).
