Description:
An organization's mission, vision, goals, and objectives serve as the foundation for policy writing. Policy writing, strategic planning, and operational planning are rooted in monitoring and evaluation. Critical and strategic thinking must be leveraged during planning processes to ensure that monitoring and evaluation lead to successful implementation. In this course, you will explore the policy development process by examining the role and function of laws, regulations, and policies. You will also analyze the strategic planning process and review how organizations use monitoring and evaluation data to improve their operations. This course includes three online modules. The first module focuses on laws, regulations, and policies that govern laboratory operations. The second module examines strategic and operational planning. The third module explores monitoring and evaluation.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of the program, the participant will be able to:
• Examine the role and function of laws, regulations, and policies.
• Gain knowledge of the policy development process.
• Contribute to policy writing, strategic and operational planning, and monitoring and evaluation.

Continuing Education:
The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® Program and CPH-recertification. P.A.C.E.® is accepted by all licensure states except Florida. This activity will provide 1.0 contact hour(s) for participants who successfully complete this training until October 31, 2025. After this date, you can no longer obtain P.A.C.E.® for this learning activity.
