Description:
Leaders should act ethically and enact standards that promote ethical practices. Promoting ethical standards of practice helps to ensure ethical behavior. In this course, you will examine components of a code of ethics and a code of conduct. Additionally, you will analyze strategies to identify, mitigate, manage, and resolve conflicts of interest in the laboratory. This online course includes three modules. Module 1 focuses on ethical principles. Module 2 focuses on code of conduct. Module 3 focuses on conflict of interest.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of the program, the participant will be able to:
• Examine components of a code of ethics and a code of conduct.
• Support the development of codes of ethics and conduct for laboratories.
• Determine appropriate responses to ethical challenges and violations in the laboratory.

Continuing Education:
The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® Program and CPH-recertification. P.A.C.E.® is accepted by all licensure states except Florida. This activity will provide 1.0 contact hour(s) for participants who successfully complete this training until October 31, 2025. After this date, you can no longer obtain P.A.C.E.® for this learning activity.
