Gene Therapy for Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Syndrome (SCID) is organized by Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB and will be held on Jul 26, 2018.

Course Description:
This program will explore the use of gene therapy for severely combined immunodeficiency syndrome and discuss up to date advances in the field. Other therapies including (Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation) HCT therapy and enzyme replacement will also be discussed. The speaker will also address ongoing studies that are needed to reduce the late effects beyond survival with the current treatment options.

Objectives:
After participating in this educational activity, participants should be able to:
• Discuss the development of gene therapy in SCID patients and its potential to become a more commonly used treatment.
• Identify other current treatment options for SCID including HCT and enzyme replacement.
• Discuss the need for ongoing studies to evaluate the long-term effects of current therapy alternatives.
