Description:
Fungal infections lead to increased morbidity and mortality. Neutropenic patients are at high risk for contracting fungal infections, but non-neutropenic patients also need to be included in the decision-making process when considering early antifungal therapy. Treatment for candidiasis and aspergillosis is explored using case studies of common and complicated patient situations. National guidelines are incorporated into the discussion about the treatment of these infections. APRN Pharmacology content = 75%.
