From Xanthomata to Coronary Artery Disease: The Trail to the Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) Receptor is organized by Baptist Health South Florida and would be held during May 01, 2017 - May 01, 2019.

This course will explain the early work on the LDL receptor, a genetic cause of heart attacks that led to new ways of thinking about cholesterol metabolism. Learn more about the mechanism by which statins, a class of drugs, lower plasma LDL, reduce heart attacks and prolong life.
Learning Objectives:
• Recognize the mechanism by which statins selectively lower plasma LDL, reducing heart attacks and prolonging life.
• Analyze the three general concepts to the biology and medicine about cholesterol homeostasis.
