Statement of Need/Program Overview:
For managed care professionals, retinal diseases—specifically, age-related macular degeneration—present a substantial challenge and as such there are unmet educational needs. Payers, tasked with weighing considerations of efficacy and drug costs, while balancing formulary placement, step therapy, site-of-care, and member access require instruction to implement optimal drug management initiatives and benefit design schema to facilitate patient access and outcomes in retinal diseases.

Educational Objectives:
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Identify opportunities to improve the management of health plan patients with AMD
  • Describe evidence-based considerations in applying available screening modalities and treatment strategies for optimal outcomes in AMD
  • Differentiate between available treatment options for AMD
