Course Overview:
Evaluation of Acute Abdominal Pain Explained Clearly is a course designed to clarify, review, and augment the training and understanding of primary care clinicians in the diagnosis and treatment of the most common causes of acute abdominal pain. The modules included in this course take a departure from the traditional slide presentation style lecture. Instead, the course is comprised of a series of video lectures aided by real-time instructor-led chalkboard visuals. This method of learning allows for the subject matter to be broken down to the basics and is designed to increase learning and retention.

Acute abdominal pain can be a signal of a serious or life-threatening medical condition. Many primary care clinicians lack a systematic approach for identifying the underlying causes of abdominal pain, including which imaging strategies to use and how to narrow a diagnosis based on symptoms. This CME course will utilize a combination of videos, quizzes, and systematic discussion of clinical scenarios and practice cases to effectively deliver the course content.

• Diagnose abdominal pain complaints by utilizing a system driven by the location of abdominal pain.  
• Describe the significance of intermittent versus persistent pain in the abdomen.
