Education Program for Immunization Competencies (EPIC) is organized by Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS).

Description:
The Education Program for Immunization Competencies (EPIC) is designed for all health care providers who administer vaccines. This self-guided online program covers all aspects of safe, effective immunization practice and delivery.

Learning objectives:
Upon successful completion of this continuing education program, participants will be better able to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information about immunization
  • Promote safe and competent practices to achieve higher vaccine coverage rates

The program consists of 12 modules:

• Vaccine-Preventable Diseases
• Vaccine Development and Evaluation
• The Types of Immunizing Agents and their Composition
• Population Health
• Communications
• Storage and handling of Immunization Agents
• Administration of Immunizing Agents
• Adverse Events Following Immunization
• Documentation
• Populations Requiring Special Considerations
• Legal and Ethical Aspects of Immunization

Credits

Accreditation:
This activity is an Accredited Self-Assessment Program (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the Canadian Paediatric Society. You may claim a maximum of 22.5 hours (credits are automatically calculated).

The College of Family Physicians Canada (CFPC) members may claim up to 50 certified credits per cycle for participation in RCPSC MOC Section 3 accredited activities. The maximum does not apply to CFPC Affiliate members.

The Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy has accredited this program for 22.5 CEUs.

While this online CME is not officially endorsed by the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), nurses may claim it as a continuous learning (CL) activity toward renewal of the CNA certification credential if it is related to their nursing specialty. Pre‐authorization from the CNA Certification Program is not required.
