Description:
Recent advancements in diagnostic imaging, interventional cardiology, as well as surgical procedures have led to more accurate diagnosis and most appropriate choice of patients to undergo treatment options for the valvular heart disease.
This series will provide the pathology and background of the mitral and tricuspid valve diseases.
Learning Objectives:
• Recognize basic concepts of strain echocardiography imaging.
• Identify the different applications of strain echocardiography imaging.
• Describe systematic protocol for left ventricular strain echocardiography imaging.
• Demonstrate normal and abnormal strain echocardiography imaging findings and explain the • criteria used in the diagnosis of disease.
• Explain the clinical setting of diastology.
• Define the pathophysiology from Normal ?Grade I ?Grade II ?Grade III DD.
• Assess echo parameters to interpret proper diastolic dysfunction.
• Recognize the current guidelines for grading diastolic dysfunction.
• Demonstrate the pathophysiology of right and left ventricular function.
• Assess echocardiography right ventricular and atrial chamber quantification.
• Assess left ventricular wall motion abnormalities.
• Determine the most appropriate treatment plan for patients with chronic venous insufficiency • based on patient characteristics, duplex ultrasonography protocols and test findings.
• Define low-gradient aortic stenosis.
• Differentiate between the different types of low-gradient aortic stenosis.
• Review hemodynamic terms associated with each subtype of low-gradient aortic stenosis.
• Low-flow aortic stenosis.
• Low-gradient aortic stenosis.
• Review the algorithm for diagnosis and work-up of low-gradient aortic stenosis.
• Recognize the anatomy and pathophysiology of mitral valve regurgitation.
• Describe the details of TTE and TEE protocols.
• Identify specific criteria used in the classification of disease severity.
• Demonstrate the criteria used for patient selection.
